January Book Selection
The North Providence Mystery Book Club will meet next on Tuesday January 3, 2012. Come and join us as we discuss Postmortem by Patricia Cornwell. This is the first Kay Scarpetta mystery, which now is up to its 19th novel. This book was the winner of numerous awards.

October Book Selection
Please join the North Providence Mystery Book Club on Tuesday October 4, 2011 as we discuss Wine of Violence by Priscilla Royal. This is the first book featuring Prioress Eleanor of Tyndal. The setting for this book is a monastery on the east coast of England in the 1270s. It is reminiscent of Ellis Peter's Brother Cadfael mysteries.

September Book Selection
The North Providence Mystery Book Club will next meet on Tuesday September 6, 2011. The book we will be reading is The cat who could read backwards by Lilian Jackson Braun. This is the first book that features newspaperman Jim Qwilleran and his cat KoKo. This book was first published in 1966, and the author wrote two more in the 1960s. She then returned to writing the series in the 1980s, stopping only a few years before her death last June.

August Book Selection
Join us on Tuesday August 9, 2011 as the North Providence Mystery Book Club discusses The Crossing Places by Elly Griffiths. This book introduces Ruth Galloway, a forensic archeologist in the Norfolk section of England. When not teaching students in the local university, Ruth helps out the local police force when bones are found in the local salt marsh. While the bones turn out to be from the iron age, Ruth helps solve a modern mystery. This book won the 2011 Edgar Award -Mary Higgins Clark Award from The Mystery Writers of America.

July Book Selection
The North Providence Mystery Book Club will be discussing The Merchant's House by Kate Ellis at it's July meeting. This book introduces the detective Wesley Peterson, who while solving modern day mysteries, is drawn into ancient mysteries by his archaeologist friend. The older mystery usually has a bearing on the newer one. Please join us on Tuesday July 5, 2011.

June Book Selection
The North Providence Mystery Book Club will meet on June 7, 2011 at 7:00 PM. The book we will be reading is Snow Angels by James Thompson. This is the first book in the Inspector Vaara series. The book is set in Finland above the Arctic Circle during the month of December. The inspector must deal with a gruesome murder while dealing with days of total darkness.

May Book Selection
The book selected for the May meeting of the North Providence Mystery Book Club will be Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley. This is the first title in the Flavia de Luce series. Read how a resourceful eleven year old girl with knowledge of chemistry and poison solves the murder of a stranger found in her family's garden. The book club will meet on May 3, 2011 at 7:00 pm in the conference room.

March Book Selection
Due to weather conditions, the library closed early on Tuesday February 1st, thereby canceling the Mystery Book Club. We will now be discussing Absolution by Murder by Peter Tremayne on March 1, 2011 instead. We usually read the first title in a series, so that people can go on to read later titles. So, if anyone has any suggestions for future discussion titles please let us know by either coming to the book club or emailing nprref@gmail.com with book suggestion as the subject.

February Book Selection
The February book selection for the North Providence Mystery Book Club will be Absolution by Murder by Peter Tremayne. This book is the first in the Sister Fidelma series. Sister Fildema is a religious sister/lawyer in Medieval Ireland.
